These things are great! Makes hanging drywall and painting above the stairway a breeze (one leg on one step other leg on the next step down). Uneven ground no problem. Best thing is there is nothing to adjust! just position the ladder and walk up it. Installation was easy. The only bad thing about putting these legs on your ladder is that it will constantly be on loan to neighbors once they see you using it. : 2010-09-15 05:23:21

Werner Auto Ladder Leveler  
This product is quite ingenious and works very well. The only problem Ive found is that the height adjustment is generally limited to one stair height.

Installation is not for the meek. It involves disassembly of you current ladder base hacksawing the side members drilling new bolt holes using carefully chosen templates and installing the auto ladder leveler hardware. However the directions were excellent and if carefully followed the installation should be successful. : 2010-09-15 05:23:21

Heavy and short life  
I bought one several years ago from Sears. It worked fine first but I think it has 2 problems:
1. It adds to much weight to your already rather heavy ladder (mine was a 32ft Fiberglass ladder)
2. It was somewhat rusty and stuck when I wanted to use it again after 2 yrs sitting in the garage.
3. If you want to take it off you have already ruined your ladder by cutting its legs! so you will be stuck with a heavy stuck leveler ladder!!
Good idea but not so good results so far. I am going to call the manufacturer to see what they suggest. : 2010-09-15 05:23:21

somewhat overpriced  
I am a contractor and own four extension ladders of different heights. I have installed leg levelers on all my ladders.

When I got around to my 30 aluminum (my tallest) since the ladder is quite heavy and bulky I decided to spend the extra money on these self leveling units. I must agree with another reviewer the installation process was quite difficult. I also had to order additional parts because of the type of ladder. After getting the additional parts it took me several hours to complete the installation.

Now the leveler works fine but it is only slightly easier to level this ladder than the other ones I own that have individual legs that adjust manually with spring loaded buttons. In hindsight I wish I had installed the manual legs on this ladder as well. I would have avoided the frustration and saved a lot of money. : 2010-09-15 05:23:21

Werner PK80-2 ladder levelers  
These levelers are solid footings for my 32 foot fiberglass ladder but so far I have not been able to get them to adjust. The instructions tell you to use wax if you have this problem. I havent tried that but these are tough to get to adjust at all. Im just using them as solid footings for now. : 2010-09-15 05:23:21
